United Mexican States10 Great Reasons to Eat Chia Seeds

By Alex Amari

 Health / Fitness

Chia seeds health benefits are not the lone reason they're my best-loved health food.

There are many reasons to prefer this ancient superfood. Here are my top ten:

1. Chia Seeds Are Adaptable

You can eat chia seeds raw, scatter them in salads or soups, add them to casseroles, bake them into muffins or croissants - whatever you are cooking or baking, chia can make it more healthy. You can even create a tasty "chia fresca" when you add a spoonful of white or black chia seeds to a fresh lemonade.

2. Chia Seeds Give You Long-Lasting Energy

Did you know that Aztec warriors and messengers used chia to sustain themselves over an an entire day? Furthermore, the Tarahumara - a contemporary tribe of super-runners in Mexico - are able to run outstanding distances without becoming fatigued, due partly to their healthy diet of chia.

3. Chia Seeds Are Straightforward to Obtain

It was once extremely complicated to obtain chia seeds. Still today, you may not be able to get them at your local grocery store, or you may realize that the prices there are just ridiculous. The good news is, the power of the internet makes it possible to add the health benefits of chia to your eating plan no matter where you live. You can order chia online at great prices.

4. Chia Seeds Reduce Cravings

Chia seeds assimilate moisture because they have extremely high soluble fiber concentrations. Because of this, they help emit natural, unrefined carbohydrate energy into the bloodstream incrementally. This minimizes cravings and makes it easier to stick to a diet or preserve a balanced eating plan.

5. Chia Seeds Are Easy to Digest

Unlike linseed, chia seeds don't have to be ground up before eating. Your body can easily break down chia seeds. A single serving of chia contains 7 grams of dietary fiber, which is helpful for digestion. For this reason, it's good to eat chia with other foods - the chia will help you digest them.

6. Chia Seeds Do Not Have a Strong Taste

Chia doesn't have a strong flavor. If you chew them up alone, you will realize they taste pleasingly nutty. But the flavor is so subtle that when you combine them to other foods, you can't taste them at all. As a result you don't need to feel concerned about your household not liking them, and you can add them to virtually any food without adversely affecting the taste. Even sweets!

7. Chia Seeds Commute Well

Whenever I fly I take along a small bag of chia seeds. Airport food is not known for its health properties, so I like to have my own naturally healthy option with me. Chia doesn't produce an odor or lure the curiosity of security authorities. It packs well - just be sure not to get it damp. You can bring it in your bag during the entire day or even put a small bag in your pocket. The seeds are so minute and light-weight you never notice, and you can enjoy the health benefits whenever you desire!

8. Chia Seeds Are Wholesome

Chia seeds have higher levels of omega-3 than any other plant-based food. They are packed with protein, antioxidants, calcium and dietary fiber. Also, they incorporate various other important vitamins and minerals.

9. Chia Seeds Give You Lots of Energy

Chia seeds deliver you a charge of energy. You may already know, it's not sensible to eat immediately before a workout. But it's demanding to work out if you're extremely hungry. Just eat a spoonful of chia seeds and you will get energized without feeling full or bloated.

10. Chia Seeds Are Convenient

Forget fancy prep when you eat chia. Just eat the seeds straight out of the package or scatter them over other food. No chopping, dicing, grinding or heating required! Furthermore, chia seeds possess a shelf life of 5 years, so you can order in bulk and save money and time.
