Tampa Gains: The Preferred Venue

May 1, 2007.   Tampa, FLTampa is the first city in the United States to be chosen as the ideal site to host the 19th Annual Retail Commerce Congress by the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.  Vanessa Vasquez, representing the USHCC, will be present during the International Business Summit 2008 at the Tampa Bay Convention Center on May 1st to provide additional information in regards to this recent announcement.

Over one month ago local leaders representing various cultural, civic and business organizations expressed their views on how the Congress would benefit from holding their 3 day event in Tampa, which brings hundreds of business executives and dignitaries from across Latin America and the United States.  The leading attributes highlighted was Tampa Bay’s diverse Latin American culture unlike other Florida cities and the opportunities the Tampa Bay region provides to expand commerce globally and locally due to its cultural ties along with its port.  From a business perspective, Tampa Bay provides more than just theme parks it provides an industry that parallels the growth in global commerce and communication.

The 19th Annual Retail Commerce Congress will convene in Tampa (location TBA) between November 7th and 9th, 2008.  Further information will be provided in the months to come.

The mission of the Congress is to integrate the commercial sectors in the western hemisphere, (including chambers, associations and federations) in a collaboration effort to develop strategies and initiatives directed at fortifying technological know-how, economic development and the creation of jobs. These efforts will serve to minimize poverty and inequality in order to achieve a better standard of life in the Americas. The objective of the Congress is to integrate retailers in the Americas, so that they can develop affirmative action plans to face the challenges presented by globalized markets and helping them to accommodate advanced technology systems.  Previous host countries include, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Panama, Costa Rica, Brazil, Peru, Mexico, Chile, and Argentina.
