Nooo!!! We need as much diverse opinion as possible...

To think different is not a crime or a reason to ban you from the forum...

No, politics and economics are attached at the hip.  Usually the politics determine what the economics are.  Example: the U.S. doesn't like Castro and his government, so there is an economic embargo.  The U.S. likes Canada, so there is free trade.

So its natural that politics will come up in a discussion about economics.

Yes, they should. I do not know the what or how at the moment. Here, we rely on Tourism. We also have the Oil Refinery and farming. I think some of the Caribbean countries should open factories, manufacture local products and sell to other countries.

I hope I'm on the right wave-length, Scott. If not, forgive my ignoramus. I'm not into Trade and Commerce.

Actually, you answered my question. So you were not off base at all.

There will be no banning of people for thinking and discussion.  There is not enough constructive discussion in the world as it is.

If any of you have any concerns about CaribbeanChoice's policy, see the "Censorship and Free Speech" section of the Forum Rules where it explains we will not censor different points of view (even if someone requests us to do so).

The reason why I personally open and encourage these types of discussions is because open respectful conversation is the only way to resolve things and make life better.  Part of the reason why the U.S. is so successful is because with all the immigrants coming in and free trade, new ideas are entering the U.S., and the better ones often get adopted.  Some countries are very closed minded and then wonder why they don't advance or are not as successful as others who are open to new ideas.

So, different points of view are welcome here.  This website and forum is different than a lot of places, because we welcome new ideas, not bash and censor them.

Who would dare ban me from this friendly home, weezie? Weezie was just jesting, Scott. No banning here. I've not read or seen not one post/thread that's insulting, vulgar or negative on this forum. Sometimes we do not know the answer to a question so we keep our traps shut. Sometimes we still don't keep our traps shut and answer anyway.

I'm curious as to why no one has actually voted in the poll.

I voted before I posted my response, Scott.   I'm voting again. Maybe I forgot to click on 'cast my vote' button.

As an example of how i vote,  we live in an Island that think the only industrys worthwhile is Tourism and banking. The day we have an increase in Crime, tourism is dead. the day America or the larger countries put a real squeeze on off shore banking we will blow away. nothing left to support the people, they will no longer be able to go to sea as seafarers as in the old days. Migration, becomes the only way of surviving. as an example: Jamaica, they are loosing their nurses, doctors, teachers, in fact most professionels who can get out will, because government dont look into more Industries to bring in monies, they turn a blind eye to new industries or exisyting ones. because of no work crime become rampant. no industries, No work.
