Do you think that too much emphasis is being placed on present for only one day, and then most MOTHERS will not hear from or see Children again for another year. Do you think visiting or and calling would be better appricated?

Lets not leave Roses at the grave give them while Mother is alive and can enjoy their beauty and scent.  (you dont have to buy the $100 flowers or any flowers ) Let your caring be your flowers and you will hear GOD BLESS YOU CHILD.

Mother's Day Story

On Mother's Day one year, four sons decided to repay their mother for
everything she sacrificed for them.  Their mother taught them all about
God and always kept God close to their hearts.  The sons believed that
they were well off because of God and their mother.

The first son said, "I'm going to buy mom a huge mansion on the beach."

The second son said "I'm going to put a huge theater in the house for
her."

The third son said, " I'm going to have my Mercedes dealer make mom a
custom made one of a kind Mercedes."
The fourth son said,"  You remember how mom used to love reading her
Bible more then anything else?  Well, I have paid millions of dollars
for 12 different preachers to train a parrot to recite the entire Bible
to mother at her command.  It has taken those preachers 10 years to
train this parrot for me but they have finally finished."

The boys were all very pleased with one another, they were also very
proud of the fourth son for thinking of God.  The boys all sent their
gifts to mother.  As each son read the letter together from mother they
were shocked. The letter wrote:

Dear, Jake  the house you have built for me is huge, I only use one out
of 20 rooms but I still have to clean all the others, but the thought
was nice nonetheless.

Bill, the theater you had built for me seats 50 people and all my
friends are dead, plus I can't hear or see very well.  The thought was
still nice.

Tom, I'm sure the Mercedes is lovely but once again, I can't see,
therefore I can't drive.  Thanks anyway.

Finally, my dearest Timmy, you are the only one that actually put
thought into your gift.  You gave me something I could actually use.
The chicken was delicious.

We (my household)celebrate Mother's day on Saturday; because everyone else is busy shopping for 'nothing'. So, we have room to strech out and have all the waiters attention at the Restaurant (won't tell you where we went);but we pig-out as usual .

My mother don't beat around the bush...She want's cash...and she get's cash... for AA (no; not what you are thinking- that's American Airlines), so we don't even have to rush over there 'that day'... Any day is good enough for her as long as we mail it or bring it.  She loves us !!!

We are very simple people  no complication; no problem!

MOTHERS DAY

A Mother loves right from the start.
She holds her baby close to her heart.
The bond that grows will never falter.
Her love is so strong it will never alter.

A Mother gives never ending Love.
She never feels that she has given enough.
For you she will always do her best.
Constantly working, there's no time to rest.

A Mother is there when things go wrong.
A hug and a kiss to help us along.
Always there when we need her near.
Gently wipes our eyes when we shed a tear.

So on this day shower your Mother with Love.
Gifts and presents are nice but that is not enough.
Give your Mother a day to have some peace of mind.
Be gentle, be good, be helpful, be kind.

Happy Mothers Day.

Excerpted from msjoy #201

"Do you think that too much emphasis is being placed on present for only one day, and then most MOTHERS will not hear from or see Children again for another year. Do you think visiting or and calling would be better appricated"?

I would respond with a qualified "yes" to the query of whether too much emphasis is being placed on this one day as if to make up for all the other days we ignore our Matriarch. Our world today, governed by the conditions of making a living, is much different than it was decades go when families were less extended geographically. My Mother lived close to her Mother for much of her life, but I live more than a thousand miles away from my mother. I suppose this is the pattern for many of us. We call yes, but something impersonal as talking over a wire is a poor substitute for a hug and a sit down chat. We are left with this special day, not to necessarily account for all the others that we miss, but to remind us that we are mssing them. I hope that makes some sense.

Poll Question #91: DO YOU THINK THIS DAY HAS LOST ITS MEANING BY BEING COMMERICALIZED?

NO, not in Aruba, because everyday is Motherday for us in Aruba. The love and the care we give our Mother is very big. Every year there many Motherday Song come out from the local musician. And the whole day All local Radio dedicate this day to the Mothers from Aruba. With prizes ect. But every family is going today visit their Mother ect. Almost the last Son or Daughter have his/her Mother and Father living by them so one big Family. In Aruba this day is not Commericalized. Happy Mothersday

About the question, I have to say NO.

In Aruba we have still the family bound verry strong. All the family comes together by the mother house or if the grandmother or even the great grandmother is still alive, they come to her house together as a big family and celebrate then the mother's day. All with food and somthing to drink. The kids make some school (hand)art and give this to there mother, grandmother or great grand mother.

The shopping mall stays open till late for selling gifts for mother's day.  But the most gifts given in Aruba is something that really has an mother/family bound thing.

Happy Mother's Day to all.  It is an special Day. But mother's Day has to be everyday.

Hug

Mother Love is unique.  Heart

I love you mom and thank you for every thing. Thank you for given me birth. Thank you for you inconditional love.  Thank you God for give me the most beautiful mom at the whole world. (for my mom GTGT 14 may 2006  O'stad Aruba)

Flowers(for my mom)

A WONDERFUL MOTHER
God made a wonderful mother,
A mother who never grows old;
He made her smile of the sunshine,
And He moulded her heart of pure gold;
In her eyes He placed bright shining stars,
In her cheeks fair roses you see;
God made a wonderful mother,
And He gave that dear mother to me.

Big smile

SHE'S ME MOM
She is essence of womanhood; model of femininity.
Graceful and elegant, young with her school girl charm,
Wise with beauty that grows from eyes and to her soul.
She is the moral fibre and the undivided strength of the family.
The true homemaker for she has made our home.
She is an Angel among men,
Light upon dark,
Rest among weary.
I love her for being herself and no one else.
When my eyes meet hers, I know what tenderness means;
For she is tender as the Summer breeze,
And as forgiving as a new day.
She is my mom; nothing more, nothing less
But simply the best.

Mother

When you need someone to stand beside you,
Mom is near ...
When you need someone to hear your troubles,
She will hear ...
When you need someone to share your burden,
She will share ...
When you need to know that someone loves you,
Mom is there.

A MOTHER'S LOVE
A Mothers' Love is like an island
In life's ocean vast and wide,
A peaceful quite shelter
From the restless, rising tide....
A Mothers' Love is like fortress
And we seek protection there
When the waves of tribulation
Seem to drown us in despair.
A Mother's Love a sanctuary
Where our souls can find sweet rest
From the struggle and tension
Of life's fast and futile quest...
A Mother's Love is like a tower
Rising far above the crowd,
And her smile is like the sunshine
Breaking through a threatening cloud...
A Mother's Love is like a beacon
Burning bright with Faith and Prayer
And though the changing scenes of life
We can find a Haven There
For a Mother's Love is fashioned
After God's enduring love,
It is endless and unfailing
Like the love of HIM above...
Heart
