I met with your planning committee last weekend at Congo Square.  I was registering voters during the White Buffalo, Black Panther Alliance called DOTCOM (Dedicated Organized Trained Coaliton of Men).  My name is Kelley Williams.  I spoke to your planning committee about joining a vigil on September 11th 2004.  It is going to be a traditional second line march. We plan to honor the people lost on September 11th 2001 and all the lives lost on both side of the Iraq war.  We are also going to have several stops along the second line route to register voters.  The route is described below.  This event has been organized by the political action group Get your Act On.

Route is:

START:
St. Ann between Broad & Dorgenois

LEG ONE:
Dorgenois 1 block to Orleans
Left on Orleans
Orleans to North Prieur
Right on North Prieur
North Prieur to Lafitte
Left on Lafitte
Lafitte to Claiborne (Lafitte Park)

STOP #1:
Lafitte Park, 40 minutes

LEG TWO:
Lafitte to North Robertson
Left on North Robertson
North Robertson 1 block to Orleans
Right on Orleans
Orleans 1 block to North Villere
Left on North Villere
North Villere to Esplanade
Left on Esplanade
Esplanade 1 block to North Robertson
Left on North Robertson
North Robertson to St. Phillip
Left on St. Phillip
St. Phillip to North Villere (Treme Cultural Center)

STOP #2
Treme Cultural Center, 40 minutes

LEG THREE:
St. Phillip to Treme
Left on Treme
Treme to Governor Nicholls
Right on Governor Nicholls
Governor Nicholls to North Rampart
Right on North Rampart
North Rampart to Armstong Park

FINISH

This is a 2 1/2 mile route (if I remember what Jeffrey just told me on
the phone on the way back from the permit office).
We get two social aid and pleasure clubs and two bands for a cost of
$950.

ALSO: Not only do we have Troy Andrews confirmed, Jeffrey just spoke to
the President of Zulu and they are interested in parading with us -
their Pres will be talking to members this weekend and we should know
on Monday what they want to do. Woohoo!
