Monday, 24 April, 2006
With excitement mounting for this year's Cayman Carnival Batabano, another corporate group has pledged their support. HSBC Financial Services will be sponsoring Saschay Bon, one of Cayman's prominent carnival Mas Bands.
Accepting the donation on behalf of Saschay Bon, band member Yolan Williams said: "A big thank you to HSBC. They are helping us to keep the spirit of Batabano alive."
Saschay Bon is well-known for its spectacular Carnival costumes. The donation from HSBC will ensure that this year's outfits are no exception.
"It's fantastic to see more corporate groups getting involved in this important cultural event," commented Donna Myrie-Stephen, chair of the Carnival Committee. "HSBC has shown its support with this donation. We are confident that the public will do the same by turning out in full during Carnival."
Saschay Bon will be taking part in the main street parade on Saturday 13 May. The parade runs from West Bay Road into George Town and is scheduled to start at 3:30 pm.
According to Ms Williams, Saschay Bon is still signing up new members. Anyone who is interested in joining the band, can contact Trish Jackson on 526 8844 or Yolan Williams on 925 3630.
